Noise Arcade
Michael Cupoli is Noise Arcade. Musically, a vibrant soundscape of improv noise from more pedals, knobs, and switches than I’ll ever be able to understand. He’s been called the “pedal master of Beijing” and his room, littered with gear, could confirm such a claim. It’s danceable enough, with as many layers as pedals, but definitely appeals to noise kids. Everything is done on the fly, so you get a different vibe each time.
Throughout the tour, I'd continuously see women saunter over to his table, take a quick look, and start to sway. This turned into full out solo dancing more than a few times. Noise Arcade possession! After a while, I just sort of expected it to keep happening, and it did. Michael turns out tons an impressive catalogue year to year. I suggest you go to his bandcamp and dive in.
