A view from the fast train.
Chinese fast trains. A truly killer experience, and it beats flying hand over fist. The Hunan province is proving to be excellent already. I arrive to get a taxi driver who clearly had no idea where he was going, even with the phone number to the hostel, so I just got out when we were close enough. Some girls and a dude saw me walking and asked if I needed help. We half-communicated, and they said they would bring me the short ways to where it was at. A pit stop where they bought me a beer, we then ate a few lamb kebabs from the street. The hostel is nice, though the staff are clearly bored.
I wandered around and ate a cheap proper meal, decently spiced, and took the wrong staircase up upon my return. It turned into a nice balcony, and I stared out at the street for a bit. A guy yelled for me to come over, and though we couldn't talk to each other, he grabbed me a beer and we shared photos on out phones with each other while the elders looked on amused, nodding at the whole situation. They were spit-roasting more lamb. People here are seemingly even nicer here than the other cities I've been to. Stoked on another P.K.14 show tomorrow, but till then, I'm off to film a night market and check out this "fire palace" that I guess is really excellent. Cheers.
