Beijing : Day one.
Beijing. I didn't know what to expect of this city, having come from such a whirlwind stint in the vastly different south and west of China. I still haven't sunk my teeth in, but there's killer things in the works. I nestled into my hostel and slept the first night away, a bit unclear on how it would all go down, but excited for the possibilities with such a ridiculous first week lined up. After a brief jaunt in a 700 year old hutong alleyway, I met Josh Feola, and his wonderful girlfriend Lulu, who writes for VICE China, and is also part of their noise duo Damage Blanket.
They brought me out for duck, and I headed to my first show that wasn't part of a P.K.14 setup. Having decided to skip Shanghai for monetary reasons, and dig a bit more into Wuhan's legendary punk scene, I was quite pleased to find a main act I wanted to film there, Duck Fight Goose, was playing this very night!
I met up with Nevin Domer, C.O.O of Maybe Mars, and we headed in. A great start to this city. This is RESIDENCE A, a local. Tomorrow I film Nova Heart, "China's Blondie", so they say. The legendary HEDGEHOG is in for me filming their studio session, as well as a practice. P.K.14 are on their way back. Let's do this, Beijing...
